Mac & Cheez

This recipe comes together using an easy cheez powder mix. Makes for an quick dinner.

You can eat the mac & cheez as is or add roasted vegetables, beans, etc. You can use the cheez in other recipes if you like. The cheez powder recipe will hold up in the cupboard for months. So, it’s prepare and keep on hand in your pantry. Optionally add some apple cider vinegar for a little funkiness. But it’s good with or without that addition.

The Cheez Powder recipe makes enough powder for 9 servings. The Mac & Cheez recipe makes 3 servings for every ¼ cup of cheez powder used, coating 6 oz of macaroni per ¼ cup of prepared powder.

Cheez Powder

INGREDIENTS
  • ¾ cup potato flakes
  • ½ cup nutritional yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp ground mustard
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp onion powder
DIRECTIONS
  1. Pour all ingredients into a spice grinder and blend them
  2. Use immediately or store for months in an air tight container

Mac & Cheez

[Makes 3 servings]

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • ¼ cup cheez powder mix
  • 2 TBSP vegan butter
  • 6 oz macaroni
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar (optional)
DIRECTIONS
  1. Prepare macaroni per directions on the box
  2. Drain macaroni noodles
  3. Add butter to pot while noodles drain in strainer
  4. Add oat milk to pot
  5. Add cheez powder as soon as butter melts and whisk ingredients together
  6. Optionally, add apple cider vinegar
  7. As cheez sauce begins to thicken, stir in macaroni to coat the pasta
  8. Serve
