Sausage Seasoning (no salt)

Just because you’re vegan doesn’t mean “sausage” can’t still be a thing.

You can use this mild sausage seasoning to add flavor to textured vegetable protein, fried mushrooms, and sauces. Ready-made blends are available, but they usually contain salt. It’s nice to be able to control the sodium levels. If your dish is already salty enough, you can skip the salt and still add more flavor.

This blend comes together fast with a handful of simple ingredients. The recipe makes nearly a cup of seasoning, but don’t worry, you’ll go through it fast. Use up to 1 tablespoon of seasoning with 1 cup of textured vegetable protein. That ratio borders on overwhelming.  If that’s too much for your palate, try 2 teaspoons instead.
